How To Change A Road Bike Tire

One of the skills that you really need to master when you start biking is to change a flat tire. It sounds really simple but you will not believe how many people actually do not know how to change one.

To be honest it is really not that difficult if you just have the right person teaching you the correct technique. Once you do it a couple of times you will have it down and you will not be afraid of going on long rides and being stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire.

You simply need a tire lever, pump and an extra tube.   I personally carry around a portable C02 pump that fits in a small bag under my seat. This makes it easy to carry and I can use it anywhere I end up with a flat.

Check out the video below to see how to change a road bike’s flat tire.

Now do not be afraid to go out in the garage and tire this on an existing tire. It really is the best way to learn. With a little practice you will have much more confidence about changing a tire which will enable you to go on longer rides by yourself and not rely on others.

uhm, personally if I watned to learn that I’d rent an offroad bike and do it in the grass with helmets and protective gear If not maybe you should put some protective covering on your bike where it will crash when you drop it , my cousin does all those tricks but he had a dirt bike for years. Of course he wrecked last halloween going 130 around a hairpin, he almost died and is still in alot of pain. He can’t afford another bike now and I see his little ears prick up every time a sport bike goes by, poor guy. anyway, be careful.
